Changes made (Nero 7):
-------------------------
Corrected 0.30msec (microphone?) phase offset
- Improves instument clarity / dynamics
- A little more bass
- Centres and widens the stereo image field
Increased volume of all quiet parts by +3dB
Further increased volume by +4dB on tr05 and all applause / announcement segments

NOTE: The phase correction process creates small inaudible SBEs, but if you fix them, it destroys
much of the improvements, so I suggest leaving it alone.

Quality: Definitely an A++ now
----------------------------------

This is a wonderful rare (on Dime anyway) recording and performance by the great Nels Cline
Singers, with only a few minor flaws were easily fixed (details above).

Member jonI likened it as "...like recorded closer to the stage on a better rig..." and I think that
is a very good description, so don't miss it...

...Enjoy !!

Scott Amendola - drums, cymbals, electronics

Notes: Many many thanks to the taper and Mesquite for sharing this gem from his fantastic collection. This cd came to me with 33 tracks with some repeats between cds. I used cdwave & Cool Edit pro (CEP) to split/join tracks and remove any repeats. No other processing was done. It sounds pretty much the same as "Mind Your Throats Adam".

This tape was first circulated in May 2005, I'm pretty sure it got passed around here but here it is again, one of the best of the newly-surfaced tapes, excellent sound quality and an inspired show. If you don't have it grab it! These are the original FLAC files as downloaded back then, no conversion.

This was originally seeded as a first-generation copy and a few months later a copy straight from the master was seeded. This is the latter, superior version.

Donald Byrd - 1975 - Places and Spaces

AMG Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine:

"Reuniting with Larry Mizell, the man behind his last three LPs, Donald Byrd continues to explore contemporary soul, funk, and R&B with Places and Spaces. In fact, the record sounds more urban than its predecessor, which often played like a Hollywood version of the inner city. Keeping the Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, and Sly Stone influences of Street Lady, Places and Spaces adds elements of Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Stevie Wonder, which immediately makes the album funkier and more soulful. Boasting sweeping string arrangements, sultry rhythm guitars, rubbery bass, murmuring flügelhorns, and punchy horn charts, the music falls halfway between the cinematic neo-funk of Street Lady and the proto-disco soul of Earth, Wind & Fire. Also, the title Places and Spaces does mean something — there are more open spaces within the music, which automatically makes it funkier. Of course, it also means that there isn't much of interest on Places and Spaces for jazz purists, but the album would appeal to most fans of Philly soul, lite funk, and proto-disco."

Donald Byrd (tp/flh/vcl/prod), Fonce Mizell (tp/clavinet/vcl/prod), Larry Mizell (p/vcl/prod), Skip Scarborough (eP), Chuck Rainey (eB), Craig McMullen, John Rowin (g), Tyree Glenn (ts), Ray Brown (tp), George Bohannon (tb), James Carter (whistles), Harvey Mason, Sr. (d), King Errisson (cga), Mayuto Correa (cga/per), Kay Haith (vcl), Wade Marcus (con/string arr); recorded on 18, 20 & 25 August, 1975
